exceptionally rare all original 19th century antique american victorian-era hunting scene mauve-colored majolica tile fireplace surround designed by isaac broome for the providential tile works art pottery tiles trenton, new jersey, c. 1886-1913. the 6x6 and 6x9 inch tiles have been carefully cleaned from residual mortar, cement, etc. the deeply embossed tile set features two full-figured opposed hunters below wildlife surrounded by foliage flanked by intricate scrollwork. the victorian tile surround was salvaged from a st. louis mansion parlor fireplace. dates to the late 1880's or early 1890's. great condition considering age. the tiles have no breaks, cracks or repairs.
