original and intact c. 1920's or 1930's american industrial heavy duty solid oak wood glass milk container crate designed and fabricated by or for sidney wanzer & sons, inc., chicago, il. the single crate contains cut-out handles on all four sides. the edges are reinforced with riveted joint angled steel. the interior is divided into four sections with the use of steel rods. the exterior has been completely refinished and sealed with a clear coat lacquer. wanzer pioneered the use of the glass milk bottle, scientific testing to determine the butterfat content of milk, mechanical refrigeration for milk storage and applied the pasteurization process invented by louis pasteur to kill bacteria in milk. only one available. measures approximately 15 x 13 1/2 x 12 1/2 inches.
