original streamlined style american art deco machine age "guardsman junior" table or desk lamp. the "sight-saving" streamlined electric portable table lamp was designed and patented in 1937 by bert dickerson, assignor to the faries manufacturing co., decatur, il. the lamp is comprised largely of spun yellow brass. the saucer-shaped shade or reflector remains in great condition, considering age. the cast brass ball finial is accentuated with two graduating "speed" rings. weighted cast iron base concealed with a green felt pad. the lamp has been rewired. on/off dial mounted on the base remains in excellent working condition.
