very impressive and well-built all original c. 1870's american victorian era varnished solid walnut wood bank officer partners desk possibly fabricated by or for stephen smith & co., boston, mass. the oversized new york city bank building office desk contains a double-sided slanted top with black leather insets. each side contains a total of five drawers, with a shallow centrally located drawer, flanked by two double-drawer modules. the original ornamental carved wood handles with skeleton keyholes are in great overall condition. the massive turned and tapered legs with cast brass swivel casters are structurally sound and stable. the sides contain two recessed panels with fanciful beveled edges. the 19th century double-sided desk is amazingly intact with the original varnished finish in great overall condition, considering age. measures approximately 56 x 56 x 32 inches.
