all original seldom found early nineteenth century intact vibrant light to medium emerald green glass porter bottle dug in a philadelphia privy vault. the squat body and low shoulders taper steeply into a long, narrow neck and applied double tapered lip. the finish exhibits whittling and significant slop, as well as some discoloration on the neck. at the shoulder "patent" is embossed with slight casewear. the glass exhibits allover irridization and whittling, lending desirable crudity to the bottle. a deep kickup at the base retains a ring of iron residue near the edges. there appears to be a maker's mark embossed concentrically around the very edge of the base, but it is worn to illegibility, the bottle was fabricated by the union glass works, philadelphia, pa.
