original c. 1850's intact privy-dug light green soda bottle with applied tapered collar manufactured for j. cairns & co., in st. louis, mo. the front body is embossed "j. cairns & co / st louis". the long sloping neck is finished with a crude tapered collar that has some slop, concentric whittling marks and wear at the lip edge. the base has a deeply pointed kickup with dimples of glass, that retains a light residue from the iron pontil. crudities are typical of its age and date of manufacture, including whittling, bubbles, and some discoloration or surface wear.
