all original and completely intact early 1920's american antique ornamental cast brass double-arm wall sconce designed and fabricated by the beardslee chandelier manufacturing co., chicago, il. the two-light candelabra was salvaged from the 10th floor of the chicago athletic club annex, which consisted primarily of offices. the 20-story prairie style chicago athletic association annex (also known as the chicago athletic club addition or "madison building") was designed by the notable chicago-based architectural firm of martin, garden & schmidt. the madison street landmarked high-rise was added to the existing 11-story neo-venetian style chicago club association building constructed in 1893 by architect henry ives cobb. the towering "gardenesque" style red brick and ornamented limestone annex was completed in 1907, with an additional eight floors added in 1925. together the two buildings form an l-shape wrapping around willoughby tower. the annex contained the famous "cherry circle" bar room, lodging, the crystal room, offices and a presidential suite on the 18th floor. the decorative incandescent light fixture retains the original conical-shaped spun brass shades. the hubbell pull-chain sockets are original to the fixture. the neoclassical style wall sconce contains a nicely aged surface patina left untouched. two matching sconces available. priced individually. measures approximately 11 x 6 1/2 x 18 inches.
