original self-contained lightly stained maple wood specimen slide storage cabinet with original streamlined style chrome plated pressed steel drawer handle. likely fabricated by the central scientific company, chicago, il. the diminutive cabinet was salvaged from an old michael reese hospital research laboratory. the removable top or lid has a turned wood knob, which clearly indicates that the drawer units were never stackable. measures 14 by 10 by 4 1/2 inches. originally held glass slides, coverslips, eyedroppers and other small laboratory equipment.
