single intact antique c. 1890's american clear glass medicinal bottle fabricated for chicago druggist h.h. mcpherson and discovered in a chicago area landfill.

original and intact antique american medical clear glass h.h. mcpherson medicinal bottle discovered in a chicago residential backyard privy pit. the diminutive bottle contains a cylindrical-shaped neck with flared lip. the "tombstone" shaped body contains a strong "strike," in the form of deeply embossed lettering that reads "h.h. mcpherson / dispensing druggist / chicago. ill.". the raised letters are free from nicks or scuff marks. some residual discoloration and/or staining remains inside the uncleaned (i.e., untumbled) bottle. the cork and contents were lost and/or removed long ago. irridization or discoloration is typical of having been dug. h.h. mcpherson operated a pharmacy at the corner of grand and paulina avenue. his son edward mcpherson went on to become the secretary of the chicago college of pharmacy and made a career in his father's business in the mid-1870's. charles hulbert & company were successors to h.h. mcpherson's business.
