original late 1880's antique american victorian era black enameled cast iron freestanding exterior residential newel post designed and fabricated by the dearborn foundry company, chicago, il. the oversized cast iron newel post features chamfered edges, decorative rosettes and a pyramidal-shaped finial. the antique victorian decorative cast iron newel post contains a uniform black enameled finish. multiple matching newel posts are available. salvaged from a chicago wood-framed residence undergoing demolition (see image). the tubular steel hand railing is original to the newel post. measures 6 1/2 x 30 inches, and 37 inches high at the top of the newel post, 43 inches high at the top of the handrail.
