lightly cleaned original and perfectly intact 19th century eastlake style "windsor" pattern exterior residential entrance door mortise lock strikeplate designed and fabricated by the reading hardware company, reading, pa. the oversized bronze metal plate contains the pattern on both sides, thus making it a reversible strike. the two openings are designed for use with a mortise lock containing both a latch and dead bolt. the entrance door strikeplate was originally mounted flush against the door's jamb. surface oxidation evident. pattern and/or casting detail remains crisp. measures 7 x 2 1/8 inches.
