original 1930's american industrial stationary compartmentalized heavy gauge steel furniture dresser designed and fabricated by the simmons mfg. co., kenosha, wisc. the "fireproof" dresser contains a brushed and sanded metal finish that has been sealed with a clear coat lacquer. the pressed and folded depression era metal dresser was likely designed by albert witike in the late 1920's or early 1930's. this particular simmons multi-drawer cabinet does not contain the four turned and tapered pedestal style legs. the original pressed steel drawer pulls or knobs are in great condition. the upright cabinet retains the original circular label (often found on the interior left side side of the top drawer). simmons specialized in metal bed frame fabrication primarily for hospitals, hotels and other commercial settings. the refinished simmons machine age cabinet was salvaged from a chicago hotel. four nearly identical units available. priced individually. measures 19 x 32 x 37 inches
