exceptional early 20th century american vintage industrial custom-built pipe or steamfitter's portable toolbox with a nicely distressed red paint finish. the hinged lid tool box with turned wood carrying handle is comprised largely of folded and pressed galvanized steel with riveted joint edges. the toolbox interior contains a removable compartmentalized "small parts" tray with stationary dividers. very unusual beveled edge, dome-shaped lid. the crudely built lockable hasp retains the original steel chain and curved hook. salvaged from an old steam boiler factory located in the city of chicago.
