exceptionally rare crude c. 1830's-1850's free-blown dark olive amber glass porter shaped bottle fabricated for unknown purposes. the full, asymmetrical body has low, very steep shoulders that curve into a long neck and thick applied collared ring. the richly colored glass varies from opaque or "black" to light yellow in tone. allover seeding and bubbles lend the surface a speckled appearance. crudities typical of its age and date of manufacture. the base exhibits a deep rounded kickup from manufacture with pontil rod. the bottle is completely intact and in good condition, retaining only one small flat chip at the lip edge. fabricator and contents unmarked.
