rare and unusual patented early 20th century american vintage industrial ornamental cast iron wall-mount punching-bag bracket fabricated by the h.d. crippen mfg. co., new york city, ny. the design is attributed to william j. byron of new york. the "new" punching bag frame has an oversized iron bracket and/or stationary horizontal arm with the original and intact rebounding swivel device affixed to the end. the vertically-adjustable connection features a solid steel stay-rod containing a circular-shaped steel disc or "head" that attaches to the speed bag (removed long ago). the uniquely-shaped perforated arm contains a double-sided staggered line design motif. the bracket mount flush against the wall. the brushed metal finish has been treated with a clear coat lacquer.
