all original vintage american reinforced yellow brass swing-arm table or desk reading lamp designed and fabricated by nessen lamps inc., bronx, ny. the versatile table lamp retains the original opalescent whit glass shade or reflector. the circular-shaped weighted base supports a cylindrical post containing two patented swivel joints or points of articulation. the keyless socket is fully enclosed within a combination tubular housing and shade fitter with ball finial set screws. the original lamp cord and plug are intact. contains a nicely aged surface patina. walter von nessen introduced his first important lighting concept - the nessen swing arm lamp for table, floor and wall applications in 1927. that form should follow function was then on the frontier of design. von nessen and his lighting design studio was among its most perceptive pioneers.
