original vintage medical "x-ray in use" illuminated box or "can" light, removed from the cook county hospital radiology department. the white enameled folded steel housing remains in great shape. the removable sign panel is comprised of baked reverse painted glass, with bold black lettering. 1-2 incandescent lights are used for illuminating the sign. the cautionary and/or notification sign was originally mounted above a door (within the radiology department) leading into a room containing x-ray equipment used for examination purposes. measures 12 1/4 x 8 1/2 x 3 inches. likely manufactured by the wolf co., chicago.
