single 19th century all original salvaged chicago elegantly designed solid cherry wood fireplace mantel executed by palmer, fuller, and company, chicago, ills. the highly desirable half-mantel retains the original varnished finish from the time it was installed in the late 19th century. the frieze, jambs and corners of firebox opening feature carved ornament. the shelf is structurally sound and sturdy.
