all original late 19th century antique american ornamental cast bronze residential entrance door backplate or escutcheon and matching doorknob designed and fabricated by the yale and towne mfg. co., stamford, ct. the richardsonian romanesque style bronze hardware was salvaged from the entrance door of a chicago three-flat graystone constructed in the late 1890's. the nicely aged surface patina is largely intact with most found in the recessed regions of the intricate design. the backplate contains a unique a combination of moorish design elements surrounding elegant leafage. priced for both the doorknob and matching backplate. two doorknobs and backplates available. priced for the set (i.e., doorknob and matching backplate). backplate measures 8 x 2 1/2. knob is 2 1/2 inches in diameter.
