late 19th or early 20th century antique american ornamental cast brass interior residential pocket or sliding door oversized backplates designed and fabricated by the yale & towne mfg. co., stamford, ct. the matching backplates feature unusual and visually striking design elements surrounding the deeply recessed rectangular-shaped handles. the pocket door backplates contain a very early gold painted finish that has aged nicely. the brass metal is exposed in several areas. the escutcheons were salvaged from a chicago graystone constructed around 1895-1910. priced for the pair. measures 10 1/2 x 5/8 x 2 3/4 inches.
