all original c. 1880's ornamental cast iron "oriental" pattern interior residential pocket door backplate or escutcheon, fabricated by branford lock works, branford, ct. the rectangular-shaped backplate contains a deeply recessed "cup" handle with a single skeleton keyhole. the original brass "wash" or plating remains largely intact. the baked black enameled inlay accentuates the casting detail. measures approximately 4 3/4 x 2 inches
