c. 1930's fully functional vintage american art deco machine age interior auditorium flush mount illuminated exit light salvaged from the orpheum theater prior to demolition in 1964. the theater exit door "can" sign is comprised of cast aluminum with perforated lettering backed by original emerald green textured glass panels. the interior contains a single bare bulb porcelain socket with lamp cord and plug. the single-sided sign was fabricated by the hollywood electric number co. hollywood, calif. great working condition. vaudeville magnate alexander pantages built the orpheum theater in 1924, with marcus priteca as official architect. responsible for the design and remodeling of over 200 pantages theaters, priteca became nationally recognized as an expert in modern, high-quality theater design. in 1929 the pantages theater switched to films and was re-named orpheum theatre with a 1,400 seating capacity. the orpheum was later demolished in 1964. surface wear consistent with age. measures 15 x 7 1/2 x 3 inches.
