exceptional c. 1910-20 antique american industrial or apothecary oversized and well-maintained "thorium" laboratory bottle possibly fabricated by the whitall tatum company, philadelphia, pa. the large bottle contains a large bore or throat sealed by the original original ground glass flat top reinforced stopper. the base of the antique american scientific bottle contains the word "thorium" ( naturally occurring radioactive chemical element discovered in 1828 by the norwegian mineralogist morten thrane esmark and identified by the swedish chemist jöns Jakob berzelius, who named it after thor, the norse god of thunder. the laboratory bottle is free from chips, cracks or excessive wear.
