original early 1880's antique american ornamental cast iron interior residential black enameled summer cover likely designed and fabricated by the w.l. sharp and son company, steubenville, oh. the pierced iron summer cover is comprised of an unornamented rounded edge surround with delicate foliated scrollwork surrounding a central medallion. the summer cover remains in great overall condition, considering age. salvaged from a chicago residence undergoing demolition. measures 28 1/2 x 24 inches.
