samuel nicholl, 64 leonard st., n.y.
rare and original antique c. 1850 electric blue soda bottle manufactured for samuel nicholl in new york. the slim body and narrow neck are finished with an applied tapered collar or blobtop that exhibits slop and irridization on the bore. the front body features a clean strike in the form of multiple embossed lines of lettering inside a rectangular slug, "saml nicholl / 64 leonard st. / new york", with a raised and underlined end-letter "l" in the abbreviated "samuel". the base is smooth with some whittling that suggests manufacture with sand pontil. barely visible seams run from the base to shoulder, evidencing use of a two-piece mold. crudities are typical of its age and date of manufacture, including whittling, a large vertical bubble on the interior body, minor surface wear and haze from being dug. measures 7 1/4 inches.
