intricately designed 19th century original ornamental cast bronze metal interior residential flush mount backplate designed and fabricated by the russell & erwin mfg. co., new britain, ct. the oversized doorknob backplate retains the original swinging keyhole cover. traces of the original baked black enameled finish applied to the recess regions remains partially intact. the fanciful circular-shaped rosette contains a repeating palmette design motif. the nicely aged surface patina was left unaltered. multiple identical backplates available. salvaged from a chicago area residence.
