original and intact early 20th century american ornamental cast yellow brass "trianon" pattern interior residential doorknob backplate designed and fabricated by the p. & f corbin co., new britain, ct. the brushed metal passage door backplate or escutcheon contains decorative laurel wreaths in each of the corners, surrounding the screw holes. the protruding wrought brass collar or thimble is tightly affixed to the backplate. measures approximately 7 x 2 1/4 inches.
