original american industrial adjustable arm table or desk lam manufactured by the edward miller & lamp co., meriden, ct. the brushed steel parabola-shaped reflector or shade with rolled rim was made by the faries mfg. company (although it bears the markings of miller, in addition to faries, along the patented spun brass metal socket fitter). the table lamp contains a weighted cast iron base concealed by a pedestal style cover or base plate. the stationary pole and tubular arm are held together by single friction joint, allowing the arm to pivot forward and backward. the bryant push-button socket has been rewired with period appropriate braided cloth lamp cord.
