original american depression era interior theater auditorium freestanding arc spotlight pedestal base or stand designed and fabricated by or for the universal electric stage company, kliegl brothers, new york city, ny. the heavily reinforced telescopic stand contains a weighted cast iron three-legged tripod base for added support and stability. the heavy gauge steel tubular pipe and extension are divided by a solid cast brass locking collar with original oversized faucet handle. the exact use of the additional threaded pipe fittings is not known. the stand has been refinished and treated with a cleat coat lacquer.
