fabricated by or for the new york city transit authority
expertly refinished antique american industrial cast iron and "sani" white porcelain enameled new york city subway passenger car pivoting strap or grap handle fabricated by or for the new york city transit authority. the brushed metal looped-end handle with pivoting bracket and mounting plaque have been sealed with a clear coat lacquer. the nicely worn baked-on porcelain enameled finish is largely intact. the patented subway car "straphanger" was mounted on an oak plaque long ago with an old incised letter bras plaque mounted along the bottom. the subway hanger was likely salvaged from a decommissioned passenger car where it was mounted and offered as a souvenir to transit employees.
