original antique american industrial lightly refinished chicago factory machinist's custom-built workbench with the interior compartments concealed on three sides. the nicely weathered and shopworn robust table contains a thick, rock hard maple wood top firmly attached to the stationary base. when discovered, the workbench had been partially painted and caked in grease. we stripped the exterior paint and lightly sanded the surfaces to both reveal and preserve the character in a presentable fashion. the completely open-ended side where the machinist stood or sat, contains a single shelf that can easily be removed. the tabletop and wood base have been sealed with a clear coat finish. great overall condition. the workshop table is both compact and narrow for use in a variety of design settings. measures 46 1/2 x 18 1/4 x 32 5 /8 inches.
