refinished c. 1940's vintage industrial "adjustrite" stationary stool manufactured by the adjusto equipment co., bowling green, oh. the unique four-legged base contains an old lightly incised, brass identification tag for the university of chicago, department of physical sciences. the stool was likely used in an early laboratory setting. the stool features two relatively movable members combined or overlapping for telescopic movement, with one of the members secured to the seat of the stool and other member secured to the legs and/or base of the stool. the coacting movable members function in such a way to lock the seat at various selected positions. retains the original solid maple wood seat. sound and stable construction. measures 17 inches in diameter at base and seat height adjusts 24-26 inches.
