oversized early 20th century rectangular-shaped exterior white glazed terra cotta bas-relief plaque salvaged from a chicago commercial building undergoing demolition. the extravagantly designed facade panel features a centrally located armored knight flanked by mythical winged griffins. the heightened contrast, found especially within the deeply recessed regions, was built-up over time from prolonged exposure to the outdoor elements. the building plaque was fabricated by the american terra cotta co., chicago, il. measures 31 1/4 x 21 inches.
