lot of original c. 1920's solid cast brass diminutive doorknobs salvaged from the lakeshore drive athletic club building. the historically significant lakefront building was designed by renowned chicago architect jarvis hunt. the towering beaux-arts style building opened in 1927. each doorknob features a unique footed shank with two threaded set screws. the moderne style doorknobs are accentuated with deeply incised graduated rings. fabricated by the russell & erwin mfg. co., new britain, ct. the refinished doorknobs have been darkened slightly with an oil-rubbed bronze metallic enameled finish. priced for the lot.
