antique american made solid cast bronze exterior residential "carlton" pattern entrance door backplate fabricated by the russell & erwin mfg. co., new britain, ct. the oversized entrance door backplate contains a solid protruding collar or thimble, along with large circular opening for a cylindrical lock. the backplate has four pre-drilled screw holes for mounting flush against the door. the recessed regions contain a dark bronze metallic inlay to accentuate the casting detail. measures approximately 10 x 2 3/4 inches.
