seldom found original and intact c. 1910-20 american made industrial spectator chair or stool possibly fabricated by the r.m.m. company, chicago, il. the "no. 55" adjustable height armchair features an elaborate riveted joint bent metal strapwork supporting the original solid hardwood armrests and slightly contoured backrest. the revolving maple wood saddle seat is original and intact. the slightly flared, four-legged angled steel base contains multiple riveted joint stretchers for added support and stability. the centrally located diminutive wheel acts as a stationary sleeve used to secure the threaded steel spindle or rod in an upright position. the chair is structurally sound and stable. the maple wood and steel components have been thoroughly refinished and treated with a clear coat finish. seat adjusts from 18 to 22 inches.
