circa 1850's or 1860's beautiful original and largely intact interior residential hanging american aesthetic movement gaslight ceiling light fixture possibly fabricated by thackara sons & co., philadelphia, pa. the hallway pendant lantern was originally suspended by multiple brass chains and an elegant ceiling "cap" or canopy. the intricate brass filigree likely had a gilded finish when originally fabricated. the lantern contains four glass panels with two (original) featuring richly colored ruby red "flash glass" etches panels featuring majestic scenes with full-body figures in costume. the other two panels are heavily seeded with a hammered texture. nice and uniform surface patina throughout. likely salvaged from a stately mid-19th century american mansion. measures 9 x 9 x 13 inches.
