original vintage american industrial "no. 3 1/2" cherry red enameled oversized mobile fire extinguisher designed and fabricated by the phister mfg. co., cincinnati, oh. the 3 1/2 gallon liquid tank was originally filled with carbon tetrachloride (the tank is now empty), which was used as a flame retardant. the riveted joint seam runs vertically across the steel tank. the original black enameled stand or dollie retains the original hardened rubber wheels with red painted hub caps. the bent tubular steel handle slides upwards and downwards. the original hand pump and wheel are intact. the hose was removed long ago. the large brass underwriters' plaque is riveted against the tank's backside (facing the dollie). found in an old chicago area hotel. stands 45 inches tall.
