unique american depression era antique industrial intact and original mobile factory enclosed cart or cabinet salvaged from a west side chicago textile factory that operated from the beginning of the 20th century until the plant closed in 1946. the late 1930's american made cabinet is both robust and heavily reinforced in construction. the four sides of the fully enclosed cabinet contain stripped wood boards affixed to a heavy gauge angled steel frame. the two cabinet doors with surface mount hinges are overlapping and/or interlocking with a stationary hasp used in conjunction with a padlock for securing the interior contents. the robust tabletop is comprised of a single slab of rock hard maple wood or "chopping block" section cut down to for use with the cabinet. the cabinet and workbench were both painted time and again, but the removal of paint and brushed metal finish has produced a nice contrast against the metal and wood. the hardened black rubber bassick swivel caster are original to the cabinet. the entire industrial furniture piece has been sealed with a clear coat lacquer. measures 38 1/2 x 26 3/4 x 33 1/4 inches.
