original c. 1880's antique american ornamental cast brass interior residential passage door backplate possibly fabricated by the sargent hardware company. the aesthetic movement style backplate contains an oil-rubbed metallic bronze enameled finish used to accentuate the casting detail. the backplate features a unique assemblage of floral motifs and geometric shapes surrounding the keyhole, thimble and screw holes. 5 1/2" x 1 1/2".
