original and largely intact 19th century american victorian era interior residential room divider colonnade header designed and fabricated by the decorators' supply co., chicago, il. the massive header is accentuated with double-sided gesso ornament, in the form of beaded borders, cornucopias, foliated scrollwork and other fanciful design motifs. the inverted u-shaped room divider component was salvaged from a chicago graystone residence built around 1896. measures 109 x 24 x 4 inches.
