two matching 1880's antique american victorian-era fanciful nickel-plated bronze "new old stock" ice box door hinges designed and fabricated by or for the paul j. daemicke company, 170 w. sangamon street, chicago, il. the solid bronze door hinges were discovered in an old hardware store with original wrapping. the plated finish is virtually spotless. the daemicke company was based in chicago, with company founder inventing innovative ice boxes, insulated doors, "cooling rooms", etc. his company had a well-displayed, exhibition at the c. 1893 "columbian exposition" or chicago world's fair. each hinge measures 5 x 6 inches. the knuckles are tight and pivot with ease. each leave has a unique lightly incised design motif. priced for the pair.
