late 1890's or early 1900's antique american ornamental wrought bronze "americus" pattern entrance door hardware designed and fabricated by the reading hardware company, reading, pa. the matching doorknob and oversized backplate with two keyholes contains a mostly uniform surface patina throughout. the backplate has two screw holes (very top and bottom) for mounting flush against a residential entrance door. the asymmetrically-designed doorknob contains foliated scrollwork. the art nouveau style hardware was salvaged from a chicago graystone undergoing demolition.
