intact late 1870's original and intact highly ornamented cast iron arch top interior residential fireplace summer cover or grille designed and fabricated by or for henry dibblee & company, chicago, il. the perforated iron cover features an intricately designed center with elongated oval-shaped cartouche. a typical filigree border surrounds the raised center. the black enameled finish is largely intact. salvaged from a wood or coal burning fireplace found in an old chicago italianate residence. measures approximately 19 x 26 3/4 inches.
