uniquely designed 19th century antique american aesthetic movement interior residential doorknob backplate. likely fabricated around 1885. the passage door backplate is comprised of ornamental cast brass. the fluted collar or thimble remains intact. the backplate or escutcheon contains two screwholes for mounting purposes. the dark metallic bronze enameled inlay accentuates the lightly incised casting detail. fabricated by the nashua lock co., nashua, nh. measure approximately 5 1/2 x 1 1/2 inches.
