original 19th century c. 1880's antique american eastlake style "broken leaf" pattern doorknob backplate manufactured by the lockwood manufacturing co., south norwalk, conn. the residential passage door backplate has a nicely aged and mostly uniform surface patina. the backplate contains a single keyhole opening and two screw holes for mounting. the wrought brass collar or spindle remains intact. very popular pattern. measures approximately 5 3/8 x 1 1/2 inches.
