well-maintained 19th century antique american varnished oak wood single run staircase consisting of original oversized ornamental box-shaped newel post fanciful turned spindles and solid handrail. the original stained and/or varnished finish is largely uniform with allover crazing evident. the staircase components were salvaged from a 19th century chicago building that served as a factory, meeting hall and residence before undergoing demolition. the staircase has been carefully removed and numbered for reassembly.
