refinished american antique civil war-era interior residential ornamental cast iron figural fireplace summer cover designed and fabricated by or for henry dibblee & co., chicago, il. the perforated arch top summer cover or grille contains a uniform black enameled finish. the centrally located elongated oval-shaped cartouche contains a full-figured woman in costume, surrounded by a beaded border. the fireplace grille is free from breaks and/or cracks. salvaged from a chicago italianate demolished long ago. 17 x 24 x 1 1/2 inches.
