hard to find c. 1930's american industrial antique heavy gauge steel wall sconce designed and fabricated by or for the crouse-hinds electric company in syracuse, new york. the cargo ship crew quarters reading light is comprised of a curved square steel helmet or reflector welded to a circular flange with a ceramic socket and metal on/off toggle switch. the flange is attached via original brass screws to a circular cast iron base with a threaded hole at the front. at the bottom is a smooth base with stamped numbers 1 through 4 on each side and a logo of overlapped letters stamped in the center. there are also 4 holes for mounting the base to the wall. the industrial ship sconce has been brushed down to bare metal and sealed with a clear coat lacquer. the fixture measures 4 1/2 x 4 1/2 x 9 inches.
