very unique and unusual c. 1930's custom-built vintage industrial american freestanding foreman's desk salvaged from a now-defunct detroit automotive assembly plant and/or factory complex. the heavy duty brushed metal desk features a slanted front with an open-ended deep and spacious storage compartment. the top section or shelf contains additional storage surrounded by raised edges or rail-guards to prevent spillage. the open-ended desk is supported by an oversized cylindrical pole or pipe attached to an inverted conical base with surrounding ring for added support and stability. the solid steel desk has been thoroughly cleaned and brushed to bare metal, and treated with a clear coat lacquer. custom cut old growth pine wood panels or insets were added for a more distinctive look. measures 28 1/4 x 20 1/2 x 44 inches. last remaining desk from this salvage.
